Ligational behavior of a tridentate NOS donor ligand towards transition metal ions

العنوان: Ligational behavior of a tridentate NOS donor ligand towards transition metal ions

المؤلفون: Monshi, Mahmoud A.S.; Abdel-Salam, Naser M.

ملخص: The reaction of a Schiff base (formed by the condensation of S-benzyl dithiocarbazate with benzoin [HBBTC]) with some bivalent metal ions give mono-ligand complexes having general formula M [BBTC]X., nH20 where [M= C02+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Pd2+, Pt2+, and Hg2+; X=Ac or Cl and n =0-2]. Elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility and spectral (Ir, Dv-vis and NMR) measurements have been used to characterize the complexes and suggest their structures. Ir data show that the ligand behaves as mononegative tridentate.

العنوان: Cytogenetic activities of fusarium spp. metabolites on A. cepa

المؤلفون: Soliman, M.S.A.; Badran, R.A.M.

ملخص: The effect of four mycotoxins on the chromosomal arrangement during mitotic cell division of Allium cepa was examined. Results indicate the presence of certain changes in mitotic stages index (M.S.I) as well as some chromosomal anomalies which reflect toxic activity due to the exposure of the tested bulbs to the four fungal species. F. equiseti gave the highest deviation of chromosomal index from the normal chromosome behaviour followed by F. solani, F. moniliforum and F. culmorum.

Development of the approach of discipline-based art education and its influence on the field of art education

العنوان: Development of the approach of discipline-based art education and its influence on the field of art education

المؤلفون: Alamoud, Yousef Ibrahim

ملخص: his research deals with (discipline-based art education) as one of the most important modern approaches in the field of art education. Major research objectives are: to define the concept of this approach, to show its historical evolution, and to illustrate its importance and role in the introduction of new concepts, which contributed to major advancements in the field of art education during the final quarter of the last century. To achieve these objectives, historical methodology was implemented. The procedures were to follow these developments, concentrate on theoretical contributions of major scholars, and identify many art programs, projects, centers, places and times which represent the landmarks of these developments. Events were classified and interpreted according to the is historical sequence. The research reached some conclusions regarding the crucial points in the approach historical developments, its defining qualities, and its major impact on curriculum, teachers, students, assessment, and technology. Finally, the researcher recommended that this approach can be introduced to the theory of Saudi art education through teaching, publishing and translating its major theoretical foundations. In addition, communication and cooperation between the Getty Education Institute for the Arts and Saudi art education specialists can be established and supported to further develop better understanding for possible application of this approach in Saudi schools.

وصف: Assistant Professor, Department of Art Education College of Education, King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Measured and estimated crop et and kc for wheat and barley in central Saudi Arabia

العنوان: Measured and estimated crop et and kc for wheat and barley in central Saudi Arabia

المؤلفون: Alazba, A..A.; Alghobari, H.M.; Mohammad, F.S.; Alomran, A.M.

ملخص: A field experiment was conducted at the educational farm. King Saud University (central region of SaudiArabia) to measure crop evapotranspiration (ETC\ for wheat and barley crops. The measurements of alfalfa reference ET werecoupled with the measured crop ET(ETC) to obtain the crop coefficients (A'r). Also, three models for estimation of referenceET (ETnf) were examined to assess their suitability for prediction of ETC under local climate conditions The measurementswere accomplished using nine non-weighting lysimeicrs constructed with reinforced concrete. The lysimetcrs were randomlyand evenly planted with the selected crops, wheat and barley, and with alfalfa reference crop. The research outputs revealedthat the seasonal E7\ for wheat and barley are 898 and 930 mm, respectively. The maximum daily ETC rates never exceeded11 mm/day for both crops. The average maximum daily ET, was 10.34 and 10.21 mm/day for wheat and barley, respectively. For wheat crop, the A',, values for initial, mid-season, and late-season stages have been found to equal 0.63, 1.38, and 0.41 forthe three stages, respectively On the other hand, the Kt values for barley were 0 60, 1.39, and 0.29, for the initial, mid andlate-season stages, respectively, The tested models for predicting ET, gave almost identical estimates. The standard errors ofestimates (SEE) lor the three models were in the vicinity of 1.7 mm/day.
