The numerical range of linear operators

Title: The numerical range of linear operators

Authors: Mecheri, Salah

Abstract: In [27] J.P.Williams showed that an operator A E B(H) is normaloid if and only if it is convexoid. It is known thatthe part if in J.P.William’s result is not true as it mentioned inthe review MR0264445. In this paper we will present an examplewhich contractics the part “ if ” in J.P. williams’ result. We alsogive a simple proof of the part “only if” of this result. A necessary and sufficient condition for an operator A E B(H) to be convexoid is also given.

Description: Department of mathematicsKing saud university, college of scienceP.o.box 2455, Riyadh 11451, Saudi arabia

New periodic wave solutions via Exp-function method

Title: New periodic wave solutions via Exp-function method

Authors: El-Wakil, SA; Abdou, MA; Hendi, A

Abstract: The Exp-function method with the aid of symbolic computational system is used to obtain the generalized solitary solutions and periodic solutions for nonlinear evolution equations arising in mathematical physics, namely, nonlinear partial differential (BBMB) equation, generalized RLW equation and generalized shallow water wave equation. It is shown that the Exp-function method, with the help of symbolic computation, provides a powerful mathematical tool for solving other nonlinear evolution equations arising in mathematical physics.

Description: (a)Theoretical Research Group, Physics Department, Faculty of Science, Mansoura University, 35516 Mansoura, Egypt(b) Faculty of Education for Girls, Physics Department, King Kahlid University, Bisha, Saudi Arabia (c) Physics Department, Faculty of Science, King Saud University, PO Box 22452, Riyadh 11495, Saudi Arabia

Decomposition method for one dimensional biharmonic equations

Title: Decomposition method for one dimensional biharmonic equations

Authors: Khalifa, A.K.

Abstract: This paper deals with the study of the numerical solution of biharmonic equations inone dimension. Biharmonic equations appear frequently in many areas of engineering andphysics representing some phenomena. The solution of such problems have been tackled bymany authors. In this paper, a numerical method based on the Adomian decomposition method isintroduced for the approximate solution of the equations. The obtained results are presentedwhere only a few terms are required to obtain a good approximation to the solution. This showsthat the method is accurate and efficient.

Title: Connecting students across universities in Saudi Arabia

Authors: Al-Jarf, Reima Sado

Abstract: The present study reports results of an experiment in which the author and herstudents at King Saud University (KSU) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia shared an onlinegrammar course with a professor and his students at Umm Al-Qura University (UQU)in Makkah, Saudi Arabia using www.makkahelearning.net. The experiment proved tobe a total failure. Factors contributing to students' inadequate participation in the onlinecourse, and hesitation to register and interact are discussed.
