Title: DETECTION OF TOMATO YELLOW LEAF CURL VIRUS (TYLCV) IN SAUDI ARABIA

Abstract: TAS-ELISA was used to investigate the occurrence of germiniviruses in tomato in Saudi Arabia using monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) of African cassava mosaic virus (ACMV). Most of the tomato samples that were collected from different location in the northern, central, and southern regions of Saudi Arabia were positive to the test. These samples reacted with one or more of the flour ACMV MAbs 14, 18, 20 and 23 used. Differences in reactions of each sample with the four MAbs as well as differences in reaction between the different samples were observed. Most of the tested samples were found to be infected with Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV). Since the infected samples came from the different locations visited, this does not only indicate the occurrence of TYLCV in Saudi Arabia but it may also indicate its wide spread in the country.
