Abstract: Abstract A control scheme is proposed to guarantee optimal stabilization of the angular motion of a gyrostat containing fluid. The gyrostat is controlled by the control action which can be generated by rotating internal rotors. The optimal control law ensuring asymptotic stability of the angular motion is obtained as non-linear functions of the phase coordinates. The damping step of the optimal stabilization of the angular motion of a gyrostat is obtained. The existence of the fluid is shown to give more freedom to the control. The present method is shown to be more general than the previous ones.
