| Abstract: | The practice of municipal wastewater treatment and reuse in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is in urgent need of improvement in all aspects. Major recommendations include the need to: immediately expand wastewater collection, treatment capacity, and reuse; establish process selection and design guidelines considering the Kingdom's local requirements; establish rational and enforceable quality criteria for effluent disposal and reuse; and start a system of plant inspection and reporting that holds plant operating entities liable for any violations. |
