| Abstract: | A new sequential smoothing and filtering algorithm (SSFA) is proposed for two dimensional binary images contaminated with additive noise and cavities. The formulation of the algorithm and its method of implementation is given step by step. The method is tested on a collected sample of Arabic characters and found to be faster and more effective than the techniques presently available in the literatures |
