Abstract: Differential equations for which the zeros of Laguerre and Herrnite polynomials are suitable collocation points are identified. It is shown that the equations representing tubular reactors with axial dispersion can be solved efficiently using the zeros of Laguerre polynomials to obtain the inlet concentration.
