Comparative Cephalometric Study Between Saudi and British School girls

Abstract

Cephalometric characteristic features of Saudi school girls were compared to similar age and sex British data. Panel selected 31 female students with normal occlusion and balance face. The mean age was 10.2 ± 1.3 years. Standardized lateral skull radiographs were taken with the head at natural position. The radiographs were traced and digitized and angular and linear measurements produced. The results indicated small intra and inter examiner method error. The comparisons between the Saudi females and the British showed significant differences in the cranial base, facial heights, chin position, dental relationship and lips protrusion. The Saudi have smaller cranial base measurements, larger lower anterior and total facial heights, recessive chin, bimaxillary dental and lips protrusion.
