| Abstract: | We consider in this paper the production planning problem faced by a firm, where the demand rate, deterioration rate, and unit costs are general functions. We assume the review policy of the firm is either continiois or periodic. Applying various techniques from the field of optimal control theory, we propose control algorithms to minimize some nonlinear cost function. The control scheme considered in the paper are optimal control, predictive control, adaptive control, fuzzy control, and neural network control, A large number of simulation is used to illustrate the effectiveness of proposed algorithms. |
