| Abstract: | The purpose of this investigation was to determine the nature of the dental midline among Saudi patients. In the present study, 472 subjects were examined to determine the coincidence of the maxillary dental midline with the face midline, mandibular midline and upper frenum. The results indicated that among the subjects, 88% had the labial frenum coinciding with the maxillary dental midline and 81% with the mandibular dental midline. This indicated that labial frenum is the best guide to establish the dental midline. Fifty eight percent of the subjects had their dental midline situated in the exact facial midline. However, the maxillary and mandibular dental midlines failed to coincide in 66% of the subjects. |
