| Description: | The kinetics of thermal decomposition bf natural rubber and modified rubber by carbon-black and crosslinking agents additives were studied over the temperature range (633-663 K) both for un-irradiated and pre-γ-irradiated of modified rubber and natural rubber with total dose of 10' Gy, in air using isothermal techniques. Kinetic analysis of %he results according to various theoretical models of solid state reaction showed that the decomposition of modified natural rubber was controlled by three-dimensional diffusion process. No change in the mechanism of decomposition was observed as a result of γ-irradiation, whereas an increase in the kinetic and thermodynamic values of the decomposition was recorded for pre-γ-irradiated samples. Addition of cross-linking agents to the carbon black modified rubber has significant effect on the kinetics values of thermal decomposition for the pre-γ-irradiated carbon-black modified
rubber. Department of Chemistry, College of Science, King Saud University, P. 0. Box 2455, Riyadh-11451, Saudi Arabia. Tel. No. - Office (01) 4675971.
