Public Libraries in Saudi Arabia under the Ministry of Education

Abstract

This article sums up the recent development of public libraries in Saudi Arabia under the Ministry of Education. At the beginning an introduction about the emergence of public libraries is given. The study deals with various aspects of public libraries including organisation, staff, buildings and collections. The present state of the services and facilities available is also discussed, as well as administrative and managerial problems. The study concludes with suggestions regarding the main problems raised therein.
