| Title: | Comparison study of reflected and transmitted thermal neutron flux in water and other moderators |

| Issue Date: | 2007 |
| Abstract: | Systematic measurements of the reflected and transmitted thermal
neutron flux for different thicknesses of oil, glycerin, water and sand were
carried out using 252Cf and Am-Be neutron sources and two independent BF3
sensitive detectors. The reflection parameter (albedo) for different sample
thicknesses was calculated. The geometrical effects on transmitted thermal
neutron flux were studied. The results obtained showed strong effects of both
hydrogen and carbon on the transmitted and reflected thermal neutron flux.
High concentration of hydrogen indicates high reflection parameter. |
